If you’re a blogger, you have undoubtedly seen the most recent video that Holly Homer did with Crystal and Company regarding growing your Facebook page likes. In it, she suggests that you post three times per day to your Facebook page, but a lot of people have been wondering what time they should post those three posts. So, if you’re wondering what the best time is to post to Facebook is, today’s post is for you!
Determining the best times to post to Facebook
Here’s the video showing you how to determine the best times for your page and below is the text instructions.
From your public Facebook page click on Insights then Posts. This page has a graph of the past week showing when your audience was online. You want to determine the three times of the day that the highest number of users were online. Once you know the three peaks, you’ll then post about 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to the peak times so that your post is up and ready for your audience when they log in to Facebook.
2 Methods for determining peak periods
There are two different methods you can use to pick your peak times. Period based, and absolute numbers based. Picking peak times of day based on time period would mean that you would find the peak number of users for the morning period, then for the afternoon period, and finally for the evening period.
To pick your peak periods based on absolute number, you would simply pick the three highest times of day no matter when they occur. Experiment with both methods to see which works best for your page.
Using my page as an example, I can see that the peak times based on absolute numbers are as follows for Gym Free Fitness:
- 10 am 719 users online
- 1 pm 758 users online
- 2 pm 759 users online
- 4 pm 729 users online
- 5 pm 729 users online
I can combine my 1 pm and 2 pm peak times into one and the same with my 4 pm and 5 pm peak time. That would give me my three peak times which would be 10 am, 1-2 pm, and 4-5 pm. So according to my peak times I would post at 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm in order to reach most of my audience.
Based on the morning/afternoon/evening method, my peak times would be:
- 6 am
- 1 pm
- 4 pm
So, according to the peak times based on period of day, I would post at 5 am, 12 pm, and then again at 3 pm.
Your insights page may have more ups and downs than mine, or might even be more even throughout the day. Use your best judgement and experimentation to figure out the best times to post for your page.
